          Rove,

Your bayonet is sort of an enigma and is probably a wartime Ersatz variation from WWI. John Walter called these The Seitengewehr 15 but said there was no real nomenclature or name for this bayonet. It is a variation that generally has the "light bulb" style markings with a G along with the "SW" seen on your bayonet. They will also be found with KS, SM, KSD, etc stamps but no one really knows what these markings indicate. They were also made with sawback blades and it is possible that Gottscho made them but that is unclear as well. I have not seen a black painted one of these before so your finish may not be original. On the other hand, Ersatz bayonets were often painted green so the paint may be correct and of the period. I would leave it alone.

This is a scarce variation and some folks think they may have been diverted from export bayonets at the start of the war. It is sort of a Frankenstein bayonet but it is a legitimate wartime variation.

            hello
            thank you very much
            the overpainting is not wartime.
i cleaned the bajo already and so take a look
the scabbard has the same painting and will be restored too.
