Odd Crest on 1st Model LW; please help

Hello all,

I don't know what to make of this. The crest appears to have been attached without disturbing the scabbard mount but I can't tell if it was glued or maybe riveted by that dent in its middle. Scabbard and dagger are in great shape and appear not to be messed with.

Anyone ever seen this? Any idea what the crest is? I thought maybe some German fraternal organization or flyers association?

I believe Pforzheim was once known as Porta Hercyniae. A google search should be able to offer some detail. Nice looking dagger!

Hi,
My understanding is that Porta Hercynia, an ancient port from antiquity, is now the present city of Pforzheim. Maybe a commemorative badge from the city?
