    bayonet????

    hi all
    did not know where to put this as i think ita an imperial one but there is not an imperial bayonet section lol.anyway my father has had this for yrs and asked me if i could find out some info on it so anyone have any ideas

      so any info when it was used,who used it,how popular a maker is this and what these mean on the side of the blade

        Stuart,

        You have an Imperial S98/05 made in 1917 for Prussia according to the markings. Coppel was a prolific maker and made many of these bayonets during the war.

            Looks to be in reasonable condition so I would think it could be worth a bit more - £40.00 - £60.00 in the UK if it was very gently cleaned.

              IMHO if you are going to sell it, I would not do any cleaning. Some people do not like to buy pieces that have been messed with no matter how little. I would let the next owner decide.
