    Chained SS Dagger

This Dagger was recently made availible to me. It seems in very good condition except for the dent in the scabbard, that's the only flaw. It has the second style chain on it. The screws and pommel nut are also in very good condition. It's not a parts dagger. Are the chain and markings on it good? What are your thoughts?

I don't like the fact that it has the district number (the Roman numeral "II") stamped on the lower crossguard - especially on the obverse!

'36 SS daggers were not stamped with district numbers and the '33 SS daggers that were had them placed on the reverse. Could have wound up on the obverse after a disassembly at any time...pre- or past-1945 and easy enough to fix. Just question why, if..."It's not a parts dagger", the marking is there?

Also, that's a pretty nasty dent. Depending on:
          (1) The price
          (2) Your budget/finances
          (3) How bad you want a '36 SS dagger,
it might be a good idea to hold out for a better example

Wish I could be more encouraging, but my experience has been that if one isn't happy with a piece when he/she buys it, it generally doesn't get any better! That dent and the number on the crossguard would keep me awake nights

          My two cents' worth

          Good luck,

            Ken,
Any chance you could post the pics? I can't open them.
            Thanks,
