Dasreich,
Here's what I see:
The dagger appears to be an early Rohm presentation piece with all proper fittings. The dedication side (back) has been fully ground to include the maker mark. All parts seem to fit as they should with wear that is consistant with other parts.
IMO, it is a "period" original Fully Ground Rohm that is a presentation piece so hence it lacks the "group" marking on the reverse of lower scabbard fitting.
$250.00 is a deal even in it's condition and without the scabbard IMO.

I agree that the dagger is original and may well be a ground Rohm piece. I do not agree that it is worth $250 with the crappy blade (if you're not buying the blade, what are you buying?) and without a scabbard.
IMO, unless you plan to "part it out", it's just a dagger for which you'll likely never find a proper scabbard at a justifiable price.
Wish I could be more encouraging, but I'm just not feeling it

I agree with Skips view in a certain aspect.
You See Dasreich, when you first posted you didn't get any response. My assumption is because nobody wanted to tell you what Skip just said. That none of us Old Timers (in the hobby ) would have that item in our collection for free. Most everyone will tell you to not consider it and find one that is in "collection grade". But that would mean spending around $1,000 or
more for a really nice one if you can find an honest Unmolested" example.
When we see these type of posts we can tell your a younger passionate collector who is most likely on a limited budget and is not that concerned with "condition issues" that the rest of us are. You just want the cheapest "representative" item you can find. Since you want to buy as many items as you can within your budget. I understand that since that's how I started way too many years ago.
Now the important part is the realization that when you decide to start upgrading your collection you will find few takers on what we consider "beaters". Like this SA dagger. I am also assuming that these other
items you purchased are also not in excellent condition. You will see the following posted all the time: "Buy Condition" or "Condition first, rarity second" and etc.
Just keep that in mind.
As far as this SA dagger goes it really OK in my opinion for you to buy it for $250. Don't expect to make a profit on it. I know what's out there and your not going to find any nickel SA dagger, even with the scabbard and with the condition issues, for less than $250.00. And actually it might look find of "cool"
surrounded by a bunch of worn out medals.
But do think about condition. This is an investment. Should you later deside to "sell" you need it to be "liquid".
I don't mean to preach, just want you to look at something that's down the road.
Regards,
-wagner-
