I also have an SMF in near mint condition and have always been amazed at how well the gilting has held up on the pommel. Can you guys explain this?

Weyersberg

I also have a Paul Weyersberg in the collection which came with a Luftwaffe officer's grouping -- all of which was in equally mint condition. The pommel is also in very nice condition on this piece as well.
