    HJ - Clip point Knife

Here's this clip point HJ knife. There are no maker marks. Diamond seems to have been removed (with malice) at one later reattached.
I've heard stories that some of these were found in some factories at the end of the war. Want to hear your opinions.
    Thanks,

scabbard and the hanger look good, dont know about that odd looking rivet on it though.

the more usual hj knife, what is the hilt etc made of doesnt look like a zinc one if its supposed to be late, might be an early post 45 perhaps??

very interesting, any history with them?

History? Yes. It happens that I got these from the estate of this man. Happened to get a few other items too.

Yes, the HJ Knife with the bowie style blade was, indeed, period and manufactured by WKC. These come with the Knight's Head Trademark and without, both original and period.
I have found both types directly from WWII veterans.

          Thanks Ron.
Not too many collectors know that info.
How hard is it to find one today?

            HJ Bowie Style

Over the years I have seen less than 10. I have owned three, one with the WKC TM. I haven't seen one offered in the past five years. Value is not easily ascertained, but should be at least double what a mint motto HJ is selling for, if you can find one.

Ron, is it true or not, from your understanding, that the "Clip Point (Bowie) HJ was a "new" blade design by all makers or just one or two companies?
I 'heard" that these "mostly" didn't make it out of the factories, but a few may have?

              Thanks.
