General information about the dress bajonet

Hi, I'm planning to buy 2 dress bajonets next week at the Ciney fair (Belgium). As I am not home in these items I would like to have a little background before I buy one (or two).

I need one for a NCO and one for a EM. From what I've heard the NCO's used the small version and the EM the long version. Is this true? And how long are both versions?

Then I've noticed there is a stroke of colour at the end (where you attach the gun). What is this for? Does it indicate a unit?

To answer at least part of your question, the lengths of the bayonets are as follows:

Short version

"The blades are usually about 8" in length..."

Long version

"The blades are usually about 10" in length..."

Regarding the NCO/EM classification, I have also heard that it was up to people to chose which length they wished for - someone please help here.

The green/red "thing" you were referring to are felt inserts which came with the bayonet when it was bought.

Ik ben nog volop aan het leren,maar de lange versie van de KS98 werd gebruikt door zowel NCO,als EM.De korte was voor officieren.Het vilten stukje achteraan wijst op Heer of Luftwaffe.Rood voor Heer,groen voor luftwaffe.Het kan zijn dat ik niet correct ben,maar je zal hier nog wel een degelijk antwoord krijgen.

Is de beurs volgende week al?Om hoe laat begint ze?Zaterdag of zondag?
