With the rounded holes in the link it would have to be a type II chain link. The photo's hard to make out, but I have questions about authenticity as well. We need a better photo.

        SS chain link

This link was offered on e-bay and was sold for $60.00. I did not bid on it. This is the only photo I have. I hope it helps. Thanks for all the information. I hope I didn't let a good one slip away.

Based on the photo, I'd have passed as well.

My spidersense tingled when I saw the condition of the link. No wear, simply mint.

Then comparing your pics Larry, the eye sockets and some of the skull definition seems lacking. Is the reverse of these links good for determining a reproduction too?

Looking at the reverse of the link really doesn't help much unless it's the link with the acceptance stamp. Getting a handle on what original background pebbling looks like is a good way to spot the fakes. They often spend a lot of time getting close on the skull then totally screw up the pebbling.

I’m in agreement. I don’t particularly care for the link that started the thread, or for the really bad one that Robert T. posted. The type I and II links respectively posted by Fire61 and Larry are just fine. FP

                      Hi,
Does anyone have some close up pics of one of these fake chained daggers.
                      Cheers
