    Interesting Naval Sword

    Hi all.

I have been asked by a customer to sell this sword on their behalf.
Although I deal all the time with daggers on my website, I do not really know much about swords and so would appreciate any help with identification and possible value.
I am confident from the etching and crossguard that it is a German Naval Sword possibly Imperial due to the insignia and can see that the maker is WKC.
Please click on the link for pictures.

    Any help much appreciated.

Hi Ian, Looks like a nice Imperial Era naval sword. I like the horizontal anchor on the folding hand gaurd, they also were made with vertical anchor motif. Etching is fine. I'm guessing a high end retail would be around $1500+. You don't see these often. Nice sword.
    Cheers...Jeff

Imperial indeed. A period photo of this exact model can be seen in Wittmann's Naval bible on page 444. I belive it to be a model No.42 in the W.K. &C. catalog from the 1890s. Nice!

        Thanks for the help guys.

Shame it has no scabbard but I will try and sell it on the forum on behalf of my customer.

        Thanks and best wishes.
