opinions for luft 1st, sa, heer

I just found these for sale. Could I get some opinions on authenticity and value?

#1 SA without the scabbard (unfortunately I dont have a pic of the handle, but apparently the blade is also marked "rzm m7/40 and is made by hartkopf and co. soligen").

#2 Heer (some give to the handle, apparently there is NO maker mark-which is an obvious concern for me). Also, the two hanger straps are NOT connected any more.

#3 luft 1st model (unfortunately the leather is mostly gone from the scabbard). Again, no maker on the blade but the hanger is marked.

I'd really appreciate any opinions and estimates on worth. Understandably, I would imagine the problems with the scabbard on the luft would make for a big loss on value. Were there any heers without a blade maker mark?

    Thanks!

    Some thoughts...

    Hello,

First off I will say that without a more complete set of photographs these are impossible for me to help authenticate and value properly.

Having said that, and in answer to your question about unmarked Heer daggers, the answer is Yes. There were unmarked Heer and Luft daggers made.

A couple additional observations are as follows...

I notice that the patina is mismatched on the metal portions of the Heer dagger. If the handle is also loose as you say, beyond what could be explained by a loose cap, then possibly it's a parts dagger. Lack of detail to leaves on pommel also is of concern.

Luft dagger seems to have handle bent off at odd angle. Also of concern.

Frankly, I wouldn't proceed with a purchase until a better photo set is supplied. If you are in contact with the seller and they are not militaria collectors then you may have to tell them specifically what it is you wish to see in the next photo set. Good luck with it.

    Regards,
    Stu

I echo the sentiments of my collecting peer who posted above.

That 1st model luft has some significant problems. It would really depend on what your inention is and what you expect out of it vs. return. It's had a hardlife as can be seen, releathing both the grip and the scabbard is going to take some talant. I know of 1 or 2 collectors who were able to prefrorm the surgery with successful outcomes. That project is way beyond my edged weapons repair ability. You may also really consider wht to to with the grip. Repair/replace the existing Morroccan leather, which also will require you to come accross wiring for the new grip wire wrap. Photos dont show the blade so I cannot put anything out there on blade condition. If its in bade shape, really at that juncture, one would need to walk away from it. If he sells it for $20-buy it, for $450-dont buy it..I wouldn't even try to bargain and rationalize down a price that might get you 1 or 2 hundred off the sales prices, but then what? You either still have a monumentally time consumimg, labor and cost consuming prject, or your left whwat from the photos looks like a junker. Not much upward mobility for that dagger.

The Army to me looks OK. Cant I can't crealy see the mismatched patina except what looks like the crossguar fitting is alot lighter than the pommel, ferrule, etc. Perhpas it is already a parts dagger. Hopfully, like my frined stated, its pommel will just tighten up. Now if it's been stripped ou..( Which ive seen many times on collectors who got overzealous tightening thier LUft and Army pommel), you have a set of other problems. Is it it the pommel cap that is stripped, or is it the tang threads that could possibly be an issue. You buy a dagger with both the possibilities, it spells only trouble and will make forn another grab 'n patch to hopefully put it back together in some semblence of what it shoud look like.

Onto the SA- the photos wont help us. We need more. Grip, scabbard, up close on the buttons, the whole smere. A makermark photo wouls also be helpful

Put a feww better pics up and I guaranteee it will help

The guy 'says' its from his father/veterans bringbacks...but who knows how much water that really holds. half the pics in my post were from AFTER requesting precise shots, so maybe he's simply trying to beat around the bush a little.

The guy is offering $800 on all three where-if there weren't the problems you mention it might be a good deal, but if they are parts daggers like you mention, I think I'll just avoid it.

Hi Scotty, I would agree all the comments already made.

At the price, I would walk away too.

          Cheers, Ade.
