    HJ Knife Opinion

I have a chance to pick this knife up loacally. It seems ok. I only got a couple of quick shots but i hope they will be enough. It has no motto on the blade, so it is a later one. The triangle on the handle is not loose. It appears to be missing the hapse on the sheath. Does this look ok, and what would a ballpark figure be?

Steve the hj knife is genuine enough its stamped rzm m7/118 for Jacobs & Co. The daimond enamel has been beat up at some point and has lost all its enamel so i cant be 100% sure the daimond is genuine but it probably is. i would put a value of $150 max on this hj knife.......cheers scott.

            I like it!
I agree with Scott here, hard to tell if the remaining diamond part is original but i also imagine it must be. I havent seen that marker before and i dont think its a very common one. The number 118 is the last number of the RZM codes for daggers.
I would go for it, but make sure its for a good price, you dont want to end up paying an overpriced item!
150 - 200 dollars is fine IMO, im adding a few more bucks because i dont think it is a common marker and because i imagine the blade is in good condition. But no more than that, the diamond isnt in good condition, so it takes down the value.

I think the diamond is good, just gunked up. Thanks for the help.

diamond looks werid, almost as if its plastercine or something... looks like its raised/3D etc if it was gunked it would be more likely to be invisible, hidden by the cack :P

still i'd buy it, wouldnt pay over $200, more $100-$150 i think

Mike, the enamels are missing, thats it why it looks 3D. It is the "base" of the diamond, and on top of that, the coloured enamels were placed.

The scabbard is also missing the leather snap loop that goes around the handle when it's in the scabbard. How big a deal is that?

personal pref, i wouldnt not get a knife because the snaps missing, obviously its more desirable to be complete.... in this case its a good point to go lower on the asking price

Impossible to quote a HJ-knife without having seen both sides of the blade: is there corrosion, greying, agressive cleaning, sharpening, shortening? Anyway a broken diamond and a missing snap are bringing the value down quite a bid.

                        Regards,
