    Dress Bayonet - Horn Handle

    Evening Chaps,

Would you give me you opinion of this dress bayonet please? The blade length is 20cm. The maker mark is E Pack & Sohne, Solingen.

The scabbard is magnetic, as is the blade and rivets, but the other parts (dont know what they are called!) aren't.

In the hand the one side of the horn is higher, i.e is raised than the other in an arched way. It feels great.

I would really appreciate what you think.

    Regards

    Steve

                    Steve,

The bayonet is an earlier E.Pack & Sohn dress bayonet for wear by NCOs or on some occassions officers before daggers were available.

The grips are staghorn and are riveted instead of the bolt and slotted nut arrangement unique to later Pack dress bayonets. Staghorn was an extra cost option.

Your bayonet seems to be in very good condition.

                    Hope this helps some.

                    Tony

                      Tony,

Thanks very much for your help. I was usnure of the grips but you have put my mind at rest.

                      Regards

                      Steve
