    Nice WKC On GB.com Auction

A very decent brass example of a WKC saber on GB.com. I had hoped to get in on this one, but I suspect it's going to be out of my range by the time it closes.

It's an interesting example in a configuration I've never seen. Similiar in many ways to the NR 1025, but with some subtle differences including the wehrmacht eagle on the langet. If someone here takes her, please post photos after you receive it. I'd be curious to see better and comlete photos of her.

This one has some nice casting work on the hilt. backstrap, d-guard, grip ferrule and langets look nice. Also has what looks to be "white" aluminum grip wire. I also like the open mouthed lionhead at the end of the crossguard.

I'm not so sure about that blade buffer. It looks like one of the modern ones that Johnson sells. The 1st photo doesn't look so good however the subsequent ones do. Scabbard looks to be intact, with all parts accounted for. Depending on what she goes for, someone may be happy with this winner.

I had a bad experience on GB.com not too long ago. I won a WKC 1058 which looks mint on the auction. When i got her iin my hands, I found that some baffoon had "enhanced" her with some gold spray paint in an attempt to "touch up" areas of the hilt that were devoid of gilt. Frickin' moron. There was really no way of ascertaining that paint had been applied from the photos. Until a close isnpection, it would have fooled almost everyone. A tiny peice of clear tape on the grip was the 1st tip off. Luckily with some semichrome, a soft rag and a little elbow grease was able to rectify the problem. I removed about 95% of the spray paint touch up. I would much rather had a saber who's hlt is down to the brass base than one that someone fiddled with.

Anway, last photo from the auction. This one is from the tiny town of Paradise, CA in the Sierra Nevada foothills.
