Is that a good price?

Hello,

If I wanted an S84/98 to use in a re-enactment situation, where the items quality was not of importance, then I would buy that for a maximum of 20USD. If it was for a collection I would not purchase it at any price for several reasons. The primary three being the bayonet and scabbard are mismatched and damaged as is the frog.

Others may value it differently but that is my view.

Hello,

In both the 2nd and 4th pictures you posted it appears, to my eye, that the leather is torn at about the 1 o'clock position where the scabbard lug hooks through the obverse portion of the frog. Possibly I am incorrect. Do you have it in hand? If it is not torn then I would be willing to pay another 20USD for a total of 40USD with the same proviso (re-enact vs. collect) as stated in my original reply.

Again I will mention that others may place more value upon this item. To me the value of any edged weapon is in the blade. One man's opinion.

I can only agree with Stu. I would not purchase it for my collection. But such an opinion and/or decision is very sujective. Others would probably go for it. If one likes it and is willing to spend $65 for such a piece ... well. As I said, I would not do it.

I rather save the money and spend it on a good quality item in desirable condition, like this matching J.Sch. bayonet with tropical frog from my personal collection
