    Australian collectors be warned.

    Hi,
if your in Australia and import daggers/bayonets be warned. Customs is now more efficient than ever they open all my edged weapons even bayonets. I am waiting on a Luftwaffe 1st model and guess what Customs has it. Its well over the 40cms/16" limit. Over the past 3 years I have brought in a number of daggers most I sold on in my quest for those keepers. Customs only stopped SA's, 6 months back they started stopping Army daggers which are under a couple of cm's.Now everything is opened. If I had of not contacted Customs it would have been 2-4 weeks before they contacted me.Thats why tracking is important with daggers here. I have got to know a few of the people at Customs in Sydney. Since the change of Government they have been told to get 'tough' on edged weapons. These are the same mob who took away our guns trust me daggers are next.Cant even carry a pocket knife here. I was charged for having a 3 inch pocket knife on my key chain. Arrested and charged for a knife that was virtually useless. My advice if your in Australia get your daggers soon.cheers Robert

Wow. That's a scary story. I can't believe the government of Autralia. That's absolutely terribel. I fear that this sort of stuff may enentually happen in the United States. Certain states in the US have really come down hard on weapons. Certain guns, certaini knives, etc.

Sorry to hear about that sort of thing. I hope that customs would at least understand that these are collectibles, and not used as weapons.

i fear that this will happen soon in the uk as well. we`ve just had the thin end of the wedge, with proposals going through to ban the sale, and import of `samurai` swords. the nanny govt we have here will get round to our daggers in time. what beats me is , even an non collecting customs official must see that an sa, heer, 1st luft etc, is not your run of the mill, `knife`, and obviously has `age`. a klingon battle sword in a brand new box, i can understand why it`s frowned on, but a genuine beautiful thing like our daggers?.

Hopefully there will be an allowance made for registered collectors if worse comes to worse or am I being too optimistic?

Maybe, but that sure would be nice. Something like that could hopefully allow me to have a much more extensive collection.

The proposed ban on Samurai swords in the UK does not include collectors, there would i assume be some kind of scheme where you register as a collector. I would also think that you would have to have a certain minimum of security in your house.
The strange thing about all this banning of knives & daggers is that you can just walk into any supermarket & buy a damn long & sharp kitchen knife
            Ant.

              Weapons Ban

Hey guy's, wake up!!!! It's all about a one world socialist govt. Us Americans
are next! We would have been down long ago if it weren't for the 2nd amendment and the NRA. No one will be allowed to own any fire arm on the entire planet once they get their way!! Do not be fooled into believing it can't happen here. If the Democrats get in this year with a Dem congress, our gun rights are gone! Period. We used to be alowed to own those beautiful de-acts that the Brits and the Europeans now have, that has all changed, all dummy recievers these days. If I am correct, didn't we Americans donate our own deer rifles to the Brits during the time when Hitler was about to invade England?
Why? Because the Brits did not have many personal fire arms then. Seem's the polititions never learn. Now again, the Brits are left defensless against
the Radical Terrorist's that have declared to wipe out England first!!

                  crazy laws

                  Zander:
Here in Philadelphia, we have a govt group called C.L.I.P They go around in Taxpayers paid trucks and check peoples grass!! If it is over six inches you get a warning, don't comply?? Pay a penalty. They answer to no-one and are relentless. Also lest we forget the parking meter police!! The most hated of all
comrades!! I keep my gun collection here a secret, simply because of the frantic anti gun nuts out there. "HOMELAND SECURITY" scares the hell out of me!! geopop

Hi Robert I know having dealt with customs quite a few times it really annoys you all the hoops you have to jump through to import these daggers. I myself waited for my SA Rohm dagger for about 5 weeks it was held up in customs I had all the nessecary paperwork and permits it was only after me chasing them up that I was allowed to collect it. You use to be able to go straight to the Clyde mail depot to pickup now its down to Waterloo.

                      Your Vote counts!

Hello to all my fellow collectors! I base my votes on where they stand on liberal issues, like ANY gun control legislation.... Having just got a class 3 weapon permit, I to was scared of the new Democrat Congress and if a Democrat President was to get elected,,,,,,it would make the laws that got passed in 1986, look liberal,,,,,,,,so vote accordingly, and spread the word!!
                      Kindly...

                        Freedom???????????

                        Ok Guys,
What we are reading here is just the tip of the iceberg. We can't fly our flag for fear of offending, grass monitors (we have alley grass/weed monitors here), we can't speak ONLY English here (remember when it was our countrys language), we can't do anything about illegals - except learn THEIR language, etc., etc. Wake up - the police state is on the horizon and your first clue is when your local cops try to look and act more like the military than traffic cops.
The Demo hopefuls are not our only problem with this next election. Don't forget about the gun free NYC except for the bad guys. Spend some money with the NRA and Gun Owners of America. They are the front lines of gun ownership. When our guns are taken away so too will the rest of our freedoms! These are serious times we are living in.
                        Regards,
                        Dick

Reminds me of a funny phone recording I got the other day when I called a business. The message was:
"....Press #1 for English....Press #2 to learn to speak English....."

I received a rather 'To the point' letter from our Customs dept. after they seized a couple of daggers I sent home from England.
Thank goodness they were only fakers and not the real thing.
I didnt know the laws then and thought I would just post them home with no problems. They X-Ray every thing!!!!!!!
Basically the letter said dont try to fight the point.

I have looked on the Customs web site and they do allow bayonets.
I purchased my K98 bayo here in Australia but would still like another and will probably have to get it from o/s.
