    W CLAUBERG deer hoof ?

    Is this an old german blade?

    EST. 1810 SOLIGEN GERMANY,,, it has a 7000 stamp on the other side?

      W. Clauberg did business thru 1920 when the company was acquired by the Anton Wingen Co. Whether any commercial cutlery products were marked with the W. Clauberg name after that is not clear.

        Wow that is strange.... what makes you think that this was a commercial cutlery blade though. A deer foot around the food is hardly sanitary.

          Yes, There is still cake frosting on the sheath.

          The mildew should be removed, that white stuff is nasty and will spread to other leather.

            By commercial cutlery I meant that is was sold commercially to the public instead of being military contracted edged weapons. Not all commercial cutlery was used in food service or for food preperation. This type of deer hoof knife was often used as a hiking or outdoor knife or even a letter openner for some sportsman minded fellow. More a novelty item than one someone would use for any tasks involving food or game preparation.

              I had a USA Civil War Naval officer sword with Clauberg maker, just put this deer hoof on epier, still don't know what the 7000 stamp is on the blade, THANKS
