Elite Parade Bayonet

Hello,
I would appreciate your thoughts on this short version parade bayonet. There is no maker name on this one, only the SS markings on the ricasso and hilt. The blade is really clean, but the pommel and hilt are a bit spotty. I do not see much written about the SS dress bayonet, did they exist, or is this possibly a fantasy item? I look forward to your thoughts. I am sorry about the photos, my camera is about to go.

Mike,

SS personnel used standard plain dress bayonets similar to the one you show although SS membership was often shown by specific SS knots.

As far as the attributes of your bayonet, many plain items are postwar embellished with etches or SS proof marks in an attempt to increase interest & raise their price. Anything purporting to be associated with the SS should be scutinized even more than the average item. I would be inclined to think your bayonet is such an item & would not be willing to pay a premium for it myself.

I agree...even if it were legit (and that's a big "if"!), it would be impossible to substantiate.

Billy and Skip are correct. This SS Kultur mark has been added to the KS98 postwar to boost its value.
