Fencing Foil, Solingen, very old and--

Here is an old fencing foil that I will eventually put on the Estand. It is about

36" long and has a wooden handle with notches. I do not know what the heck

that means. Dark long foil with figure 8 handle. Any ideas of value and has

anyone seen one like this ???? I believe it is 19th century.. HELP!!!!

The notches on the hilt are for a cord wrapping that is now missing. The grip was originally wrapped in cord and the notches kept it in place.
