    Hubertus Solingen ''HJ'' Knife

    Hey there,
To follow up the advice from Tiger89( http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=248967)
I start a new thread about a Hj knife i own.
I was told that it is not a knife specially made for the Hitlerjugend, but that it could also be purchased by a normal civilian in the Reich.
They told me that if it was issued by the Hitlerjugend that it should have a Rzm mark, but mine only has got a maker stamp ( Hubertus, Solingen ).

Here are a few pictures from the knife, i can't get a straight picture of the stamp because i don't have a good camera:

I think that this is a post 1945 produced knife, may well include pre 45 parts. i would expect every war time hj produced after the rzm regulations to under go the strict quality control process and hence get a rzm mark. (i know there are unmarked examples around with no maker mark or rzm that are considered pre 45.

without doing some searching into the maker myself (dont think the boss would be too happy as iam in work ) i guess you might find more previous info to confirm my suspicions... posted quickly as i hate waiting for people to reply always seems like hours

its suffered some damage as iam sure your aware with the loss of the finger guard, did it come with a scabbard?

Mike has a good point there. I think that all the Hubertus HJ knife i've seen seemed to be quite old, so it could be a knife using period pieces but with a post war assemble.
Regarding the lack of RZM, very early pieces didnt have it, but this example isnt early, no motto and high ricasso, so the lack of RZM on this one doesnt match to the early pieces characteristics.
Ive never heard about the private purchases HJ knives but i dont think it could be suitable to have the civilians with that possiblity nor any other person. I believe they were strictly for HJ members and presented by military personal only.

This Hubertus, Solingen trademark with the compass is a postwar commercial mark used to this day. I don't remember which company at the moment but will try to find that info.

The Hubertus knives are often seen with the Fleur-de-Lis iris flower scout emblem in the grip. I think this is either a post war knife made originally with the scout emblem, and replaced with the HJ diamond, or a post war knife made with the HJ emblem for allied troops in occupation after the end of the war as a souvenir. I don't believe they made HJ knives pre-1945 as they were not given an RZM code for manufacture, however, I stand to be corrected. I think Hubertus was taken over by EuF Hoerster post war.

Here's a link to the Hubertus-Solingen website. The Company is now part of Kuno Ritter GmbH & Co KG.
