    SA Dagger Help!!!

Ok so I just came across a SA dagger and was really thrown off by it. I did get a chance to take a couple of pictures of it but not many. The first thing I saw was that the RZM was not centered one the line that runs down the center of the blade, the second was that when I looked at the lettering inside the Motto it appeared to be on different levels. So if you were looking at lets say the "F" in Fur the top half of the "F" is lower then the lower half of the "F" and there's a wave like appearence where the meet. The third thing I saw was that the thin line in the letter "A" was not straight and it carried over about 3/4 of the way down the line touching the large line in the "A". The last thing I saw was the there was a significant gap between the rear crossguard and the handle. Any opinions would be great. Although I didn't get any pictures of the scabbard I tried to move the dagger back and forth inside and it moved alittle and from what I can remeber that's not a good sign.

    Thanks
    Kenneth

I know you really can't see where the two lines in the "A" come together but it is obvious when holding the dagger.

Here's where you can really see the gap between the handle and the rear crossguard.

Based on the pictures, I think what we're dealing with is simply the decline in quality occasionally seen when dealing with the later RZM pieces.

Others may want weigh in with differing opinions, but one thing I will suggest is that - if the things you are concerned with bother you now - it will never get any better.

Yep, the dagger looks OK to me too. The entire motto is skew, which would account for the makers mark also being off centre, as the template sheets for both sides were one piece. I think its merely a Monday morning dagger, a little unusual for Eickhorn, but all original from what I can see.

                    I concur with the above.

                      Hi

I was wondering what the going rate for an SA Dagger is in this condition.

                      Thanks

Does it have a scabbard/ If so, I would value it at +/- $350 if the scabbard is in similar condition. If it does not have a scabbard, probably around $175.00. If you're buying for your collection, though, save your money and keep looking.
