Should there be C E under the squirrel,or is it correct without those?

As you can see in the logo, the squirrel corresponds to the marker Carl Eickhorn, so the C E must be his initials, but i dont know if it should go there or shouldnt. I know nothing about those, so regarding the dagger and its authenticity, i dont know, sorry.

EDIT: I just realized that my reply wasnt what you were looking for (i thought you wanted to know what C E ment.) sorry

You have there the earliest Eickhorn trademark used during the 3rd Reich. Also your hewer is the seldom encountered full stag grip version... -wagner-

This is a very interesting dagger.
I can not say I've ever seen this marker mark before but hey, we are all learning here. http://www.lakesidetrader.com/pics/RAD-40d.jpg has a different maker mark. That does not make either dagger wrong. One bit of good news here sir is that very likely your dagger has an anodized scabbard under that white paint. If so, you could likely bring back the original finish fairly easily.

Are you sure this white paint is NOT period paint? Like Lakeside said and I agree is we are still learning here. Most would say no way...they NEVER would paint that scabbard white. Well I have an SA in my collection that has "period white paint applied. WHY? I don't know except that Wittmann will mention something regarding this in his upcoming SA book. So..I would hold up on it UNLESS you can tell it was painted post-war.

If re-painted white then there will likely be some evidence of paint on the fittings or possibly bridging the gap between them & the main body unless they were removed for painting. In that case you may see some evidence of the screws being turned. Just a thought?
