German Dress Bayonet - Short with Portapee

    Hey guys,

I would like some opinions on the Portapee, or rather more information about it. I like the bayonet, but I have no idea whether the portapee belongs with the piece. Thanks

It looks like the knot could have been a later addition to the bayonet's frog, but I base that only on the appearance of relative looseness on the strap. It's completely possible for this knot to have been on this bayonet as there's nothing improper for this combination IMO.

Hi Jan, the NCO's portepee which would be correct wth a short bayonet. As Billy say's you just have to satisfy yourself that it has been together for 60 odd years.

      Cheers, Ade.

Wear between the frog, scabbard & knot appears consistant. Who could say group was not always together.
