    M7/47

    Hi,

Welcome. You are lucky indeed. I hope they are all good.

Paul Ebel is a known Solingen maker with number M7/47. Here is a link to Paul Hogle's site where many of the SA maker names can be found.

    http://www.lakesidetrader.com/RZM.html

He specializes in SA daggers, is a member of WAF and either he, or one of the other senior dagger collectors, will answer the rarity question as I cannot. Just wait a bit.

May I suggest that if you are getting into the big money items right away that you pay the fee to become an Association Member. With the membership comes the ability to post pictures. Something that you will find valuable and cost effective in the long run.

    Kind Regards,
    Stu

      SA Dagger

      Hi,

Paul Ebel is a rare maker , in fact as rare as they get (10 on a scale 1 to 10 with 10 being the rarest)

If you have one of these for your first SA then you are a lucky man.
The maker mark is 2 fishes (see below).
      Best wishes Wendy & Ian

        Thanks

Thanks for your help.I was very lucky to get the Ebel as I didn't know anything about the makers mark. The sheath is anodised and the crossguard has WF on it.

The "WF" SA group marking is for Westfalen.

          Cheers, Ade.
