        Hello viol8r4:

        Welcome to the forum.
The images that you posted appear to be of an early SS EM (enlisted man's) dagger.
It may be the pictures, but the scabbard seems to be painted (an early one would be annodized).
Condition and rarity of maker are also factors.
Its difficult to determine a value without a hands on inspection.
Better to let more experienced members than myself weigh in on this piece.

          More Photos Needed.....

Yes, I agree with DaggerRob on this.

But, From what limited Photos that you show,
and Assuming it is agreed to be a TR Period EM33,
then a WIDE of range of $2,500 - $3,900 is reasonable,
but this is FULLY dependent upon all of the noted factors...IMHO

"TR period" means Third Reich period--The period of Nazi Germany (January 30, 1933 - May 9, 1945).

I agree that it looks like an early-period dagger with the solid nickel fittings (as opposed to being plated). Since it does look early period, I would also check to see if there is a serial number and/or a disrict issue number (a Roman numeral I, II, or III) stamped on the back/reverse lower crossguard. The lower crossguard is that large piece of metal between the bottom of the wood handle and the top of the blade. If you find such numbers there, it could make it even more valuable. Serial numbers on SS daggers can sometimes be traced to a named original owner, making them even more valuable.

So, be sure to check for those numbers. If you find a serial number, I'd even go ahead and check with one of the websites that do searches for SS serial numbers. That's easy to do, and the work would be well worth your time. It's always best to always first know everything you can about what you have. That will greatly help you to learn the value of your dagger. Let us know what you find out.

I hope this helps, and good luck,

                Chris

It does have III i guess thats the district issue number what does that mean? There is no serial number that I could see.
P.S. thank you all for the great help and info

The Roman Numeral III on the crossguard means that it was issued in Berlin.
                      I = Munich, and II = Dresden.
