    Voos Army Dagger Opinions

    Hi All!

I picked up this dagger from a vet's grandson and I am looking to get opinions. I haven't been able to find many Voos daggers to compare it against but the one I did find on here looked very similar. I understand that Emil Voos Army daggers are rare but I would appreciate any comments and an idea of value.

I'm sorry the pictures are not perfect, I am still getting the hang of the macro settings on the camera.

What do you think of the bubbling on the blade? It is only on one side in this area.

Nice dagger, but I cant tell if that is polished oxidation on the blade. I can only assume these are the bubbles you mean. Try taking a pic in natural light with no flash.

In my experience Voo's used type A generic fittings, I can't tell from your pic for sure but I think that's what you have there. Lastly the plating Voo's used is very thick and in many cases did not ateer, (sp?) well. You can almost peel it off. Typically this happened where the runners rubbed or near the tip. The plating also looks sorta yellow next to the natural steel. I'm almost 100% sure that this blade is correct. If you want email me and I'll send you a pic from my archive.
Best of luck with this one!

According to my sources on a scale of 1-10 a Voos dagger with this trademark is a 6. Hope that helps.

Hi All! Thanks for your responses!

I think the bubbles are the plating that Paul pointed out.

Jim: why a 6? I'm intested to see where the lost 4 poitns went.

You're not losing any points since this is a rarity scale not a "condition" scale. Since it's a 6 out of a possible 10 it falls about in the middle in regards to rarity. It's still a very nice dagger in excellent condition so enjoy owning it.
