SA dagger - Jacobs & Co of Grafrath/Solingen

This was an interesting pickup on Friday. A guy phoned on my ad I keep in the local paper (I’ve had a couple of calls this week). A WW2 vet, had some items I might be interested in; vet indeed - Ex-WSS. Here’s a dagger he had (the saber was posted here http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru....php?t=232710).

Anyway, don’t know anything about Jacobs & Co. or the “Ha” stamp in the cross guard hopefully you folks will share data.

There was enough grease on the blade to lube the front end of my car. This is sharpened. Hope that doesn’t hurt collectability too much.

Hoping someone might have an opinion on a fair value for this.

The SA Gruppe marks are for Hansa.

Love the grain on these early grips. Stunning!

(Whispering) Maybe time for me to start running an ad in the local paper?

                  Thanks for sharing again!!!

                    a scarce maker

A scarce maker for sure,SS hanger on SA dagger?,perhaps the vet has the dagger somewhere, best ask him!! before it is too late!!Shame about the broken tip,but looks like a good find, would retail in UK around £375.

Didn't notice the hanger. Guess I should slap it on the SS dagger picked up on Saturday...

These items (dagger & saber) were the only ones he had except a helmet shell that he picked up in Germany (post war) in a shop near where his daughter lives. I don't know jack about helmets but the decals don't have the same runes I've seen on authentic SS Helmets on this forum so I'm guessing somebody slapped some repro decals on it. He, of course, wouldn't have known (or likely cared) the decals were repros (I 'think' they're repros). He, having worn one for the two years he was 'in' probably just saw a helmet like one he used to wear & brought it home for his son. Unfortunately, his son showed no interest & no one in his family wanted to hear anything about the war thus, his momentos are here now & the three hours we sat in his yard, overlooking the lake, was more talking of the war years & politics than he's enjoyed in twenty years.

I'm going back with some Lowenbrau just to shoot the breeze with him...

Fairly rare maker. All parts are still in good condition except unfortunately the blade. Tip looks like it's been broken off and you've mentioned the sharpening which you can see in the photos. The blade is the most important part of the dagger. Still, it's all original, so there's nothing to complain about there. I beg to differ that it would be worth as much as £375.00 in the UK as stated above... more closer to the £200.00 mark top end, then it would probably be used for parts.
