    K98 Bayonet

    Hey,

A friend of mine offered me these k98 bayonets for sale.
Could anyone tell me more about these?
The one with the sheat is longer than the one without a sheat.
I think the longer one is WW1 but i would like to hear your opinions about them.

    Kind Regards,

    Stahlhelmwilly

    K98 Bayonet

The bayonet with the scabbard is a Brazilian Model 1908 and the other one looks like an export bayonet made in Belgium for the M1949 rifle. The export bayonets were usually heavily blued or blackened. Someone else may have some more information on it.

      Hey John,

tanks for your anwser, but do you really think the long one is brazillian made?
My own opinion was that it probably is a export bayonet, because is has a solingen stamp.

      Kind Regards,

John is correct, its a contract Brazilian M1908 made in Germany, should be Beta proofed on pommel or spine of blade, and serialed on crossguard. best regards,Andy

Typically most export model FN 1949 bayonets from the larger contracts had parkerized blades with a black painted hilt. The ones made for Egypt were finished (or refinished) differently. Some of the other smaller contracts? FP
