    Damascus Army Sword?

I do no collect German items, and I need help authenticating this sword. I have never seen anything like it. I picked this up off an ad I run in the paper. It came with 5 other swords, not all of them German. This is the nicest of the 6. I hope this generates some discussion.

    Thanks.

The blade is marked with maker "E.& F. HORSTER WAFFENFABRIK SOLINGEN" and reverse side with "DAMASTSTAHL EISENHAUER" and is marked with a waffenamt. Anyone ever seen this?

The pommel has a waffenamt mark as well.

Nice. Can you post a straight on shot of the eagle? I can't make out the blade inscription due to the flash, what is the lettering.

My initial, gut feeling is that ytou may have found the proverbial "needle-in-a-haystack". More pics would help, though

Fingers crossed, but looks good so far

The inscription looks to be 'Oberkommando des Heeres Ehrenpreis'.

The blade is genuine damascus. The waffen amt stamps suggest that this honor prize sword was procured thru army channels instead of private purchase.

The sword hilt looks to be a decorated ordnance type.

All in all, a very nice find.

The blade says "OBERKOMMANDO DES HEERES" and "EHRENPREIS" reverse says "OBERLEUTNANT MAX MUNICH PI. BTL. 36" and "EHRENPREIS?CHIEKEN 1938 MIT GEWEHR".

I had to turn the flash off for a pic of the blade inscription, they came out a bit blurry. Hope you can read it.
