    Nice

Although most of us cannot speak German, it's a very nice website even with the litte I understand. Very thorough and with some very nice and interesting pictures. Congrats. I too want to get one representative piece for my collection as I currently do not have an SA dagger.

You can also use imageshack or other free picture hosts. That way, you can post pictures here without being an association member.

                      Hello Ralf,
Großartig! Nice site. I'm curious, though, where you found the info on the early Marine dagger being dark colored, and the "Feldherrnhalle" dagger information. I've got a large amount of period research material and have found that the Marine SA only wore the standard dagger (brown/nickel) and that the FHH daggers may not have been so specifically related to the FHH. Were you able to find better documentation?
                      Thanks!
                      Erich

I received the SA/NSKK dagger book a couple of days ago, and it's an excellent work. Mostly color photos, great b/w period photos, and original patent design drawings and forms for the dagger, modifications, and numerous designs for improved hanging devices (although most were deemed forbidden to be used by the OSAF other than the standard strap hanger with retaining strap). My only complaint would be the lack of documentation for some of the 'collector's lore' presented as fact--e.g. the black/silver and brown/gilt alleged special daggers for the Marine SA (who wore the standard dagger according to all period regulations, uniform charts, and OSAF dictates that I've been able to find), the FHH dagger--again with no proof or documents attesting to the reason they were awarded/worn.
That said, I think it's a quality work with an excellent binding, high grade paper, and I suspect that it will stand on its own merits even after the printing of Tom Wittmann's book.
