what are opinions on the leather buffer, the ones i usually see are really used and pretty stuck in position, that looks abit new, compared to wear and marks on the blade, the plating seems to be almost if not all worn on the hilt, may just not be showing up in the photo.

I dont see anything wrong here, just the unfortunate plating loss. Diamond has remained in outstanding condition. I would like to see a closer pic as well.

It looks ok, but to be sure i would like more pics of the blade(the other side, not where the RZM is) and grip of both sides

I' agree with Pluvger; the knife has lost it's plating and I think the leather buffer is a replacement. Besides that it is IMO an original HJ knife.

Close-up of diamond would help. Must first impression is the leather pad is a replacement and the scabbard was married up to the knife at some point in it's life after it left the factory.

I have some more photos but let me confuse my own thread.
I have another (earlier) dagger that I had displayed with this one for a while, both out of their scabbards. Would this other painted scabbard actually go with this knife? Did I get them mixed up? I'll post pictures of the other knife too.The first few photos are more of the RZM dagger.

Now here is the other dagger -- should this one have the annodized scabbard????
