DRK Hewer On The Estand

I PM'd Christian about my concerns on his DRK Hewer and he kindly suggested placing here on the forum. He did state that he is not an expert on edged weapons, so we are helping someone out here.

Overall, I do not like the hewer. I suspect it is either an original hewer brought back from the dead or a parts dagger. I am uncomfortable with:

1 - What looks like a repainted scabbard
2 - A crooked langet that is chewed up on the reverse side.
3 - Cracked grip
4 - Missing spanner nut on grip
5 - Frog that is not correct for DRK with what looks like spurious markings

You're much better with this one than I, although I noticed all your items the only ones that made me think twice was the corrked langet and alleged SS stampings on the frog. Good points though as they're all consistent with a possible rebirth.

The scabbard is almost certainly a re-paint - that matte finish indicates that it has been messed with.

The langet definitely problems - it looks like a bad casting, but that's just a guess.

In any event, too many problems
