            Agree - Both look original. Does the Puma look polished to anyone? I don't see crossgrain and it could be just the photos, but the blade burnishing looks pretty dark like it was touched up.

              I've seen some of the early daggers with what appears to be black paint in the mottoes. Not sure if this was ever done at the factory or if the owners took it upon themselves to do it (kinda like us putting grease pencil in the numbers/markings on guns?), but I've happened across enough of them over the years to believe it was a fairy common practice.
