Brand new bayonet?

Hello,
I noticed the bayonet on the estand. It looks almost like it was made yesterday. A beauty ofcourse.

I only noticed the bolt at the back. It looks like it was shortened, but I see no damage to the finish. Was that done more often to bayonets or has something happend to this one?

That is an outstanding example of a late-war bayonet

The issue with the screw you pointed out is llikely just the result of a lack of finishing during the final assembly process.

Frank, It looks like a very nice bayonet, and as Skipper says they were not finished as well as earlier ones. That type of finish grinding and the staked catch release button are fairly typical with late Hörsters. The late frog seems to reasonably decent as well. FP
