Unknown dagger.

I got this dagger today. The makers name is in the grip and also on the blade.
Anybody knows this knife ?
I got it from an old man and he was in the norwegian resistence in 1944-45 and he took this dagger from a German soldier i 1945.

I believe these HJ knives with the Herder grip inserts were salesman's samples used to show people Herder's wares and were not issued to or purchased by HJ personnel.

These are PERIOD pieces however, not post war make overs.

I have owned one of these myself, also coming out of Norway and taken from a German soldier there. I have also heard the theory of "salesman samples" but don't buy that. Several reasons for this. First, all the knives I have seen have been taken from soldiers. Second, a salesman selling HJ knives would carry the real thing, not knives with their own company logo on. I believe that these are a commercial version of the HJ knife from Herder, which have been individually purchased by the soldiers in Germany. Much like a "trench knife".
