Leather gripped Heer dagger - real or fantasy?

These have been appearing lately for sale - I am not savvy enough to post links, but apparently several turned up in the not too distant past. The majority opinion seems to be tha they are of genuine pre-"45 German manufacture. The grips come in dark blue & green, and the maker is WKC. What do the people here think? I have just heard about these, even though they have been around a while.

I have been a dagger collector for over 50 years and they were in existance in the beginning. All are of late war construction and usually mint, grey finished. I believe these are pieces assembled at the end of the war from army parts and Custom's grips. Some believe these were the late war custom's daggers, but I believe these were sold the the US soldiers as souviners from the Solingen manufacturer.

      Leather

Ron has hit the nail on the head. Made for sale to US soldiers after war ended. Certainly not anything that was originally used during the period.
