I have been looking for a nice bayonet (which I know little about) for a mannequin display. I bought this one thinking it was matching but it appears that it isn't. The blade is marked 44fnj with a serial number 2339n. The scabbard is marked cof 43. All parts appear to be near unissued. My questions:
1) Does the frog appear to be original WW2 vintage?
2) I see no serial number on the cof43 scabbard although it is tight inside the frog. Is the lack of a serial number normal for this maker / date?
3) What would the value of a mismatched set be with all parts in unissed condition? The pictures really don't show the condition as nice as it is in-hand
