A question about SA dagger scabbards.

Hello, I have a quick question about SA dagger scabbards.

Were scabbards always made of a plastic-like material? Or were they usually made of something else?

    Thank you.

They were made of metal. Here is a great link about SA daggers and all the parts to them...

      Wow, you're right!

I recently got my very 1st SA dagger and scabbard. At first I thought the scabbard felt like a very thick plastic, but after seeing that link and testing it with a magnet I have found it to indeed be a painted metal construction.

Thank you for clearing that up... I was confused there for a minute.

      Thanks a bunch!

Plastic is found as the scabbard shell on many post-war daggers with leather coverings, such as the customs dagger - both land and water.
