    Flea Market find!

I bought this sword about 10 years ago at a local flea market. I've always thought it was german but have no idea about what period it was made. It's in close to mint condition thats what makes me think it might not be that old. It's well made and the maker has a squirrel mark with carl eickhorn, solingen around it.Appreciate any info. on it---Thanks

Congratulations ! You have an Imperial Bavarian Heavy Cavalry Officer's Sword ! I just missed one a year ago, going cheap because the vendor didn't know what it was. (One of the benefits of collecting Imperial swords ). It was in use circa 1900 - 1918, lovely condition, the Bavarian motto 'In Treue Fest' is engraved on blade. A really nice piece.
