    German sword?

    Hi ,

I'm new on this forum and 'll post this for a friend of mine.
Could anyone give me a opinion if this is a ww2 german sword?
It has a stamp with the well know name Solingen.

    Cheers,

    N.Vaessen

German (Prussian) sword modell for Fuesilier-officers.
But this model is used in many different troops.

        WW I or later (Reichswehr).

I was under the impression that all WWI Swords like this one had a fixed scabbard ring and a sharkskin grip. Swords with a black plastic grip and a moving scabbard ring were at least Weimar or Third Reich most likely.

Imperial era officer’s model sabers usually are etched, and as Ron mentioned have sharkskin grips, being in agreement that the grip on this one looks later. I’ve seen both fixed and moveable rings on different WW I era scabbards, depending on the model, with many having two rings for the moveable types. FP

              Hello Ron,

the fixed scabbard ring is only at imperial artillery "extra" swords.
              See here please: http://www.zietenhusar.ag.vu/artillerieextrasabel.html

I think also, this sword is from the time after 1918.

              best regards,
              Thomas
