nice dagger!! , can you tell me if the grip has been re-painted, or is it some kind of laquer applied on the grip?

Using Dienstalterliste, even with a guide with some of the issues, is only a part of the actual SS officers. Even if all are included:

1934 (all prewar covered all ranks)
1935
1936
1937
1938 (and addendum for most of 1939)
January 1942- Standartenführer and up
October 1942-Sturmbannführer and Obersturmbannführer
May 1943- Standartenführer and up
October 1943-Sturmbannführer and Obersturmbannführer
January 1944- Standartenführer and up
July 1944- Waffen-SS only, Hauptsturmführer and up

A lot of missing names and numbers, so actual promotion lists are needed. A lot of the prewar and non-wartime combat serving were old with rather lackluster civil (Allgemeine-SS) careers. The Allgemeine-SS was a shadow in wartime, units and commands, most just having a rank and post for pay purposes while doing something else more constructive to the war effort.

Just the wartime cadet school graduates whose rank would not be in any DAL (many members prior to that were EM or NCO), even the 1944 for Waffen-SS if made a Hstuf after it was compiled, total more than 6000 officers.I'm working off the top of my head so may have missed a DAL issue, but I haven't used them in years due to superficial data, and often incorrect, for my research needs.

SS Dagger 19786

This dagger was issued to Gemeinhardt, Walter SS Scharfuhrer. I do have some information about him but nothing on his military career. He was killed on April 27, 1945 south of Berlin, Germany near the Halbe Pocket. He was with the SS Polizei Division. Any additional information would be help full. I have requested more info from the W.A.S.P. but it was deneid.

What a cool thread. I got caught up in the military life of many.
At any rate, I listed my SS EM with number a week or so ago and want to add to this thread. I have not researched the number yet and would like help in finding the owners information.
It's a Robert Klass maker blade with no SS or RZM numbers. On the reverse of the cross guard is the Roman numeral I for the SS group Nordost.

This is the first time I have seen a SS dagger that I have identified/researched connected with the grave of the recipient. For me it is a dramatic reminder of the connection between objects and the people to whom they belonged. I have identified the SS daggers of several SS men who were KIA on the Eastern front and have existing graves, but so far the two have not been recorded together. Glad I could help you out and thanks for sharing. Now I wonder what happened to his Totenkopfring (this was the related document that I first found the identity of SS Mann No. 19 786).

Ross, it was an interesting trip to the small village where the soldier is buried. His grave is located in the church yard at Paplitz b. Zossen. There was a number of German soldiers buried there. It looked like the chruch was not being used any more but the graves were well tended to. I have more photos of the area if you are interested in them.

Here is the photo of the church yard and the row of buried soldiers. My wife is at the other end standing by the grave of Gemeinhardt. There were some other graves on the other side of the church, many contained more than one soldier, mostly unknown. Kind of a sad place. Not far down the road was a large cemetary for Russian soldiers.

SS number 13264 ground Boker

Hi guys, here's my contribution.
Stamped number 13264 factory ground Boker. Can't find anything about the original owner. Maybe some one can shed some light on it?
