Certainly not a repro..........
It's an Imperial era Artillery Officer's saber. The single ring on the scabbard would date it post 1906 or 1908 but certainly before 1914. By that time the scabbards were painted or chemically blackened. Does the scabbard show any evidence of a second lower scabbard band? I can't see one in the pictures.
The sword looks to be in beautiful condition. Ewald Cleff was a known maker of many delux swords. What is interesting about this sword is that the blade has an artificial damascus pattern. By this I mean that the pattern is etched onto a regular carbon steel blade using a template. Interesting. The original buyer wanted the damascus 'look' without the high cost of a genuine forged damascus blade.
