    Damascus Kriegsmarine Dagger

I posted pics for this dagger on the forum. The pics were not good at all. The owners description was, " the white handled dagger in the brass sleave has had surface rust on it because the scabbard or what ever you would call it I think retained water and has a milky appearance. " It was coming with a big group of items and I figure mabye a parts dagger for someone. Well it came in and was I suprised at the "milky lines". . On the other post someones opinion was it is an Imperial that was upgraded with the eagle. I can see now if the owner had a damascus blade dagger he would probably rather keep it. Pics taken inside in bad lighting. . Handle is bone white. What do you think? Is there anything to do for the black spots?

The lines in the handle look like cracks but I can't feel them at all.

I'm afraid that there is nothing you can do regarding the surface pitting and staining on the blade. The best course of action is to keep the metal waxed to prevent any further deterioration.
Too many blades have been irrepairably damaged by collectors attacking them with steel wool, metal polish or abrasive papers.
                          Hope this helps.
                          Regards,
                          RAY.

                            Thanks Ray for the response.

I do not have any interest in keeping the dagger. My thing has been medals and badges, although I have been craveing a 2nd Luft lately. I found a few items from someone selling there grandpaws items. 12 knives, bayonets and daggers. Flag, armbands and such. I will be selling most items to upgrade others. What would be a reasonable asking price? Please PM if it would make anyone more comfortable. It is hard to know value of something you do not see everyday. I do know the spotting will bring value down a bit. Thanks for the help.

While the photos are somewhat rough, I think its a Damascus Imperial Kriegs with an ivory grip. It's truly a shame about the blade as this is really a nice piece. I'd guess the value may be in the range of 4K.
