    Hello
I just picked up this pocket knife. Blade is marked "A.Winger"? Solingen. Can anyone out there give me any info and or value of the piece? Thanks in advance...

Thanks for your opinion.....I have crossed many fakes of these.....I believe this one is 100% authentic. Blade is maker marked and the blade shows heavy use and age. Anyone else have an opinion?

Lets see the maker mark. Are you sure it isn't "Wingen" with an "n"?

It could possibly be an "n", it is hard to make out under the corrosion. I am at work at the moment --and will try and capture better pics tonight. It also looks like a "3" on the other side of the blade.

Commercial curios are often easy to see that they are made after the war for the 'collector's' market.

This one looks as if it could be a correct early period piece before these types of commercial 'trinkets' were frowned on. It certainly has the appropriate wear and look for it's age. The type of materials used and the understated addition of just the portrait and the swastika lends it some creedence. I would like to see a good pic of the maker's mark if possible.

I wouldn't be too fast as to label it a fake. From what I see it strongly looks to be period.

This type of pocket knife is original. I found the first one known from a US veteran and it is pictured in one of Tom Johnson's reference book series.
I sold it to a man in FL who sent the photo to Tom for inclusion.
So, it appears that this is either the one I found or a similar one. Mine had poor blades also.

                    OK
I could not get a decent pic with my camera so I went with the scanner. After removing some corrosion and taking a look with the loupe, I can clearly see Wingen-Solingen, and a full Knight's head on the other side!---too cool---So I think this is an Anton Wingen Jr. correct? I look forward to comments.

OTHELLO was used as a trademark on Anton Wingen knives.

Anton Wingen, Jr. is the correct maker...they made severral models of TR daggers as well. This knife looks like it might be an okay, period piece
