But just out of cuerosity, what exactly has been altured??? The handle or the whole blade? Maybe somebody here has pics of what an unaltured one should look like?

THANKS for all the input, I really appreciate it!

        P.S. I don't have the scabbard

As far as a replacement, you need to be sure you buy the right size. The earlier knives had a smaller diamond. If you need a smaller diamond you can contact me. There is some information here that may be of assistance: http://www.lakesidetrader.com/HJlesson.html

the shape of the blade indicates that the tip probably was damaged at some point. Looks like someone resharpened it. There is HJ's with blades that are shaped in a unusual way, but they are few in comparsion to the standard version.

...btw in my opinion it wouldnt be worth the money restoring the handle with a real diamond...

WOW, do you own Lakesidetrader.com??? I'm pretty sure I've bought stuff from you before. Small world

Also: I looked at the info site u showed and I have a question. Did any early HJ knife have the odd shape that this one has, I've found a couple others on the web with this "dip" in the blade, but all are from a diff maker.

                  THANKS!

K98- I too have seen several HJ's modified this way. Done in the period? Who can ever say for sure? What I can say is that they were not issued this way. What you may be thinking of is a DJ knife. These were similar but about 2/3 the size of an HJ and the blades did have this shape. BTW I suspect you missing insignia is the small one. If you still need one drop me an email.
