    S84/98 Bayo -UnMarked Scabbard?

I bought a nice wooden handled Mauser bayonet in the early 1980's from a waffen SS veteran who did a little bit of trading in militaria. The Bayo was (and still is) mint. The Blade is marked “44 crs” (Paul Weyersberg & Co., Solingen) and the reverse is marked “9632”. However, the Scabbard appears to be original to the Bayo, but has no markings at all -not mismatched, just no markings. Is this normal for late (1944) war bayo's, or is this an unmatching set?

I thougt unmarked scrabbards where mostly used for export bayonets.

        Porsche,

Your 44 crs bayonet should have a 44 crs scabbard with a matching number to be "as issued." Having said that, it is possible that your scabbard is an unmarked armorer replacement or a later addition. Better to have an unmarked scabbard than one of a different date, maker, or serial number. It would have had a matching marked scabbard when it came from the factory though.

        I hope this helps.
