Iam guessing it is altered because the second ring attachment is shiny as opposed to the rest of the weathered appearance of the dagger.

                  Hi,
The middle fitting appears to be plated?and the chains look clean with no build up of dirt like on the rest of the dagger.

Can't quite tell what it's supposed to be. The SA didn't use a chained dagger like the SS or NSKK. Somewhat resembles an NPEA Leader's dagger, but the scabbard would normally be babys**t green and - as far as I know this isn't a recognized maker of NPEA daggers.

                    Anybody else?

The virtual mint condition of the center scabbard fitting makes me think it is not original to the piece.

Put together with lots of original parts to make a very rare unknown type.

Agree with Skip. Scabbard looks like NPEA... BUT!! it differ from what i see at germandaggers.com. NPEA daggers has not SA emblem at handle. This dagger has.

I agree, definitely not a piece anyone would want in their collection as an SA dagger.
