Help with price for LW 1st dagger

    Hi guys,
How much do you guys think is a decent price to offer this LW Officer 1st pattern dagger for. It was a vet bringback to the UK after the war ended and has only belonged to the family of the guy who brought it back (until i got it). Unfortunately the scabbard has either been totally stripped of leather and chains or else the scabbard is just a replacement. Anyway, maker is Carl Eickhorn and there is a possible unit marking etched into the blade which says III / Fl 157. 150 No damage to the blade and you can still see some blue to the leather.
    Cheers,
    DAVID

Too bad about the scabbard, but condition like this is all too often the case when dealing with vet pickups.

You will essentially be buying the dagger and have little hope of ever replacing or completely restoring the scabbard. There will be little demand for this dagger if you ever plan to sell. With that in mind, if you just want something to hang on the wall, I personally wouldn't offer more than $200.00 US (or equivalent)

Complete 1st Luft daggers can be had for around $800.00

                  Hope that helps,

Thanks Skip. As you say its such a shame. I dont know if the vet brought it back like that or decided to strip it . Either way the dagger itself is nice. He also brought back a WW1 "butcher" bayonet which i have sold on. Maybe the LW 1st looked too ornate for him to smuggle home.
