Need Help With Second Model Luftwaffe Dagger

I'm hoping the dagger collectors can tell by my photos if this is or

I've owned this for almost 20 years, though I never really got into dagger collecting. From the couple of reference books I've seen, it looks ok to me, but I would like some comments from real blade collectors before I list this on the e-stand.

    Thank you.

    Pommel Reverse

Has anyone seen this type of spot/discoloration before? (Reddish spot in middle of handle.) I'm curious if it is from improper storage or a flaw in the material?

Also, someone told me once that WKC 2nd Mod LW daggers are more scarce than other makers. Is there any truth to that?

Thanks for looking! All help is greatly appreciated!!

                Thanks

The discolouration is actually gilt. The swastikas were gilded on 2nd model Lufts

I think he's referring to the red stain or ??? on the 5th and 6th segments from the top of the grip. Not a cause for concern as fasr as originality, just looks like it got something on it some time over the last 60 years.

I don't see anything in the photos that gives me cause for concern.

                    Best,

The dagger looks good to me.

It is fine. Also, just a small correction . . . SOME swastikas on 2nd lufts were gilted, but not all.

I've never seen such a color absorbed into a grip but I don't think it means the piece is no good at all, quite the contrary. The dagger looks great. I suppose it's possible the grip rested on something over the years and may have absorbed some of the color. I wouldn't' try to clean it at all, probably best to leave it as is.

                              Grip / Pommel

Thanks for all the comments guys! Yes, I was referring to the spot on the grip, not the pommel. I honestly don't remember if it was there when I purchased it or not. But, for about a dozen years, it was in a shadowbox lined with red velevet, so it could have been my fault. I'll leave it alone by all means and not try to remove it.

I did learn WKC 2mod LW are not any rarer than any others... That's fine, though, it was not sold to me as such, it was just a comment from a different dealer.

As requested, here is a close-up of the pommel; it's the best I can do with my scanner (camera flash washes everything out).

Thanks again for all your help!
