What type of dagger/knife is this?

Is this rare? Not sure if this is a "gravity knife"???

It is part of Vet grouping I'm picking up today. Comes with a signed podium banner that I posted in the flags/pennants section today if anyone is interested.

Also comes with some interesting items like a certificate of discharge and signed monetary bills from throughout the European campaign as well as a weird black "chevron" or black triangle with markings that i will post for I.D.. Also comes with copies of photos of the veteran that he took in the European Theatre.

    Cheers and thanks!

Thats looks like what they call the paratrooper gravity knife. I don't know much about these, but I do know they made repos of them. I have seen gravity knives sell for around $400, condition unknown. Just a very rough ballpark. Check with the guys in the Fallschirmjager forum.

Not just used by the FJ, these knives were also aircrew issue. $400 sounds about right to me.

                Cheers, Ade.

                  Thanks everyone!!

I'm excited to get this in my hands because when I was a kid visiting my relatives in Normandy over 20 years ago, my uncle gave me one that looks like this but really busted up with no wood left on the handles. I want to compare the two to see if they are one and the same style.

                  Cheers

I forgot to add that the cloth badge is a DRK (German Red Cross) district arm badge.

                    Cheers, Ade.
